Liverpool are sat on cloud nine after a spectacular 5-1 aggregate victory over Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals, as they await tomorrow’s draw for the semi-final stage.

However, not all the news coming out of Anfield is positive as Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a serious injury blow for the remainder of the Reds campaign- which may have seen one midfielder play his last game for the club.

Klopp was asked by Sky Sports Germany if Emre Can was out for the remainder of the season, to which the Reds boss simply replied with ‘yes’.

24-year-old Can will hope to be fit for Germany’s World Cup campaign this summer and, with just months to go on his contract on Merseyside and no signs of an extension being agreed, it seems more than likely he’s played his last game for Liverpool.

Can has made 33 appearances across all competitions for the Reds this season and his absence for the forthcoming Champions League semi-finals will be a major blow.
