AC Milan playmaker Suso is available for €40m (£34.7m) rather than the €45m (£39m) that was previously claimed, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website reports that Liverpool were keen on re-signing the Spaniard in the January transfer window, and the presence of  the lower release clause could encourage them to make an offer.

Suso left the Reds for the Rossoneri in 2015 for €1.3million, and it would be a huge profit for the Serie A side if the Merseyside club do meet his buyout fee.

However, the Spanish international is a crucial player for the Italians and manager Gennaro Gattuso is extremely reluctant to let the 24 year old leave.

The decision is very much out of Milan’s hands though, and Calciomercato report they have already lined up a replacement in Napoli’s Jose Callejon who is available at €20m due to his own release clause.

In any case, we’ll just have to wait until the summer to see whether Liverpool are seriously considering re-signing Suso.
