The imminent loss of Germany international Emre Can at the end of his contract at Anfield has left Liverpool in the market for a replacement and Jurgen Klopp is reportedly considering a staggering move.

Sports Witness cites reports from Portugal that indicate Klopp is weighing up a formal offer for Sporting Lisbon man Bruno Fernandes, who’s services are protected by a whopping €100m release-clause.

Interest in the 23-year-old is rising, with both Atletico Madrid and Tottenham also said to be in the hunt for the midfielder, but Sporting are desperate to retain the services of their latest young ace.

Capped four times by Portugal, and battling for a spot in their World Cup squad this summer, Fernandes is rated as one of the next best things to emerge from within the European Championship winning nation and Sporting will demand a hefty price for his signature.

Liverpool have money to spend following the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January but a deal for Fernandes could exceed the club-record fee paid for Virgil Van Dijk.
