Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella will continue at the Serie A club for another year, dealing a blow to Liverpool’s chances of signing him this summer, according to Premium Sport (via Fichajes.net).
The Italian Under 21 international is believed to be aware of the interest from the Reds, and is said to be considering a move to Merseyside or Juventus if he does depart the Sardegna Arena next year.
Barella is said to be keen on leaving for a bigger club in 2019, but he believes his development is best served by playing another season with his current team.
Roma, Inter Milan and AC Milan were also interested in the 21 year old, but the player is reportedly decided on either joining Jurgen Klopp’s side or moving to Juve.
Premium Sport says that a deal could be finalised this summer, but any transfer would have to allow the midfielder to stay at Cagliari for one more year.
