Liverpool face a bold task this summer to replace German international Emre Can, who’s poised to leave Anfield on a free transfer, but one potential replacement will certainly be seen as controversial.

French outlet L’Equipe state Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen on bringing Belgian midfielder Maroaune Fellaini in from Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of the season- and are said to have outlined a three-year deal for the World Cup hopeful.

The 30-year-old, capped 80 times by his nation, has proven himself to be a useful asset for Jose Mourinho’s side, mainly off the bench, but his history with the Red Devils and Merseyside rivals Everton is unlikely to go down well at Anfield.

Turkish outfit Besiktas, along with Ligue 1 duo Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, are also attributed with an interest but it’s Liverpool’s willingness to secure a deal that is the most surprising and it’s likely to divide opinions.

Vastly experienced in the Premier League, the Europa League winner could provide experience at the heart of midfield but there’s surely better candidates available in the market.
