Roma chairman James Palotta says he expects goalkeeper Alisson to stay at the club, despite reports linking him with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico.

Liverpool are rumoured to be interested in the Brazilian, but speaking out on the stopper’s future, the Serie A club’s chief said:

“Why should he leave? He has a contract and he’s a very good goalkeeper.”

Alisson has only been Roma’s number one since the the departure of Wojciech Szczesny in the summer, but he has already built a reputation for himself as one of Europe’s most talented goalkeepers.

The Reds have been consistently associated with a move for a keeper, with both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius having been heavily criticised for their performances in goal.

In recent months though, the latter has begun to establish himself as the club’s number one, and there is no guarantee that Jurgen Klopp will make a move for a new stopper in the summer if Karius continues to impress in between the posts.
