Liverpool fans have reacted angrily to confirmation that Emre Can has returned to training ahead of the Champions League final.

The German midfielder has been sidelined for two months with a back injury and many thought he had played his last match for the club after Juventus chiefs revealed he is set to move to Italy on a free transfer.

But Can was part of the senior squad that spent last week in Spain preparing for Saturday’s mouthwatering showdown against Real Madrid in Kiev.

Liverpool Echo correspondent James Pearce reported on his personal Twitter account on Monday that the 24-year-old was taking part in drills during an open training session at the club’s Anfield stadium.

This did not go down well with many Liverpool fans, who are unhappy that Can has run down his contract to join Juve on a Bosman free.

Should the German take part in the Champions League final it will be his last appearance for Liverpool, but supporters suggested with comments such as “leg it” and “appalling” they are keen for that not to be the case.
