Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is seeking improvements to his midfield ranks this season, particularly with Germany international Emre Can looking set for an exit, and the Reds have received a huge boost in the market.

Klopp’s side have been linked with a move for Real Madrid outcast Dani Ceballos, who has struggled to earn opportunities with the back-to-back Champions League winners following his move to the Santiago Bernabeu from Real Betis last summer.

Plenty of speculation has emerged to suggest the Spain U21 ace could be on the move once again but Liverpool won’t have to worry about competition in the market from Ceballos’ former employers, as Real Betis have ruled-out a swoop.

Speaking to Cadena Cope, Betis president Angel Haro said:

“Ceballos is not a player that we have on the table right now. The signings we will make depend on the budget available to us and that will be dependant on our league finish now and our status within Europe next season.”

Ceballos has made just three LaLiga starts for Los Blancos this season, appearing a further eight times off the bench.
