Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has identified a number of areas he wants to improve upon in the summer, as he aims to topple Manchester City from their perch at the top of the Premier League next season.

With Simon Mignolet’s future at Anfield uncertain and Loris Karius continuing to struggle for consistency, a new goalkeeper is likely to be drafted in and the Reds could have the opportunity to sign a long-term target.

The Daily MailĀ reports that England international Jack Butland is set to leave Stoke City during the close season, with the Potters in serious threat of being relegated to the Championship in the final weeks of the campaign.

The Potters held Liverpool to a goalless draw on Saturday but the result didn’t provide a significant boost to their survival hopes, as Paul Lambert’s side sit three points from safety with two games to play, while Swansea and Southampton ahead of them have a game in hand.

Butland could also seek an exit if Stoke retain their position in the Premier League, as he seeks to establish himself as England’s first-choice goalkeeper after the World Cup in Russia.
