Liverpool may have the ideal opportunity to finally land a long-term target during the upcoming transfer window, although they’ll have to prepare for a fierce fight to win the chase of the England international.

The Daily Express states Championship winners Wolves are eyeing a summer move for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, as they prepare to bolster their side ahead of their return to the Premier League next season.

Butland is tipped to leave Stoke regardless of whether the Potters retain their position in the top-flight next season but the World Cup hopeful will certainly be on the move if the Staffordshire outfit suffer relegation, ending their decade-long stint in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old will be seeking first-team assurances for whatever side he joins this summer, as he seeks to establish himself as England’s number one after the World Cup in Russia, which may hand Liverpool difficulties in securing a deal.

Whilst it’s understood that Simon Mignolet will leave at the end of the season, Germany goalkeeper Loris Karius has started to improve and reports suggest he could be offered a new deal.
