Liverpool have finally come to an agreement with Chelsea over a fee for young striker Dominic Solanke, and a section of fans have taken to Twitter to react by mocking the 20-year-old’s first season at Anfield and calling for him to be returned to the Blues.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Solanke made the move from Chelsea last summer after his contract came to an end, but the Blues were entitled to a compensation fee because he is under 24 years old.
Talks between the two clubs had been unfruitful during the season, and it had looked like a tribunal with the Professional Football Compensation Committee was to be required, but an agreement has now been reached at an unnamed price.
Liverpool are said to have valued the England youth international at around £3million, while Chelsea wanted closer to £10million for his services.
A section of Reds fans has now taken to Twitter to react to the news, with many calling for Solanke to be handed back to Chelsea after a disappointing first season on Merseyside.

Ah so that’s why he intentionally kept his goal count low? Negotiation tactic… pic.twitter.com/pAmlHmDj5t

“Enjoyed a impressive season” what a load of rubbish lol So impressive he didn’t even make the bench for the CL and offered nothing all season, there is a reason chelsea let Tammy Abrahams and Solanke leave…..they are NOT good enough for a top 5 club

OPINION
In some ways it is understandable that this section of Liverpool fans are mocking Solanke’s first season at Anfield, with the young striker only managing two goals in 27 first-team appearances in all competitions. However, the 20-year-old must surely be given some slack. He took the huge decision to leave his boyhood club, arriving in an unknown city still a teenager, and still managed to make 27 first-team appearances. While the goal return may not have been brilliant, his work-rate cannot be questioned, and that puts him in good stead to make a bigger impact next season. Next summer is when he should be judged, not now.
