Leicester City defender Harry Maguire helped England beat Tunisia 2-1 on Monday night in their World Cup group stage opener – and Liverpool fans on Twitter have urged the club to try sign him this summer.

The 25-year-old centre-back helped Gareth Southgate’s squad get off to a winning start, as he played in part of a three-man defence and showcased his quality in possession.

He is a ball-playing defender that has just enjoyed a brilliant first season with Premier League outfit Leicester and also demonstrated for England how big an aerial threat he can be going forward.

Maguire got the nod over Chelsea counterpart Gary Cahill for England and his reputation has certainly grown a lot in the isa year.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Leicester defender will consider his future after the World Cup amid interest from Premier League champions Manchester City.

However, Liverpool fans on social media are convinced that they should be in the running for Maguire’s signature and feel he could be a perfect partner alongside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the Reds defence at Anfield.

Dejan Lovren is currently a regular starter at centre-back next to Van Dijk, but there is a feeling they could do with upgrading on him this summer.

Maguire will hope that he can go deep into the World Cup with England to enhance his reputation even further, but the Mirror report states that Leicester will be reluctant to lose one of their key men.
