Mexico were eliminated from the World Cup at the last-16 stage for the seventh-consecutive time as they lost 2-0 to Brazil on Monday, and some Liverpool fans have reacted by calling on the club to sign El Tri goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.
Goals from Neymar and Roberto Firmino secured victory for Brazil, who were solid but unspectacular in their performance as Mexico bowed out once again in the second round.
Ochoa however put in another eye-catching display in goal for Mexico, with the 33-year-old once again impressing on the world stage after a brilliant 2014 tournament.
A section of Liverpool fans have now reacted to the loss by calling on the club to sign Ochoa up, with the Mexican stopper currently plying his trade in Belgium with Standard Liege.

Is Ochoa horrendous at club level? I was hoping @LFC would sign him after the 2014 WC and I’m sure they’d love him even now! #LFC #BRAMEX

@IndigoLFC why don’t #LFC seek ochoa’s signature? he has proved himself in, now, the last two world cups, to be a consistent presence in net, and make quality saves.

Phil's keeper scouting report. Allison's kicking has been appalling £75m seems well OTT. Ochoa looks a cat, would be an upgrade on Karius and a fraction of the cost. #LFC #BRAMEX

Ochoa is ever impressing. He did also at the last World Cup. Was available then at a very low fee, and probably won't be as much as Oblak and Allison this time around, so I wish we'd go for him instead. #LFC #BRAMEX #WorldCup

OPINION
Ochoa has had another fantastic World Cup for Mexico, and it is a shame to see their campaign ended in the round of 16 once again. The Liege stopper did all he could to keep Brazil at bay but their quality eventually shone through, with Mexico failing to offer too much in return. The veteran goalkeeper will have done his personal hopes no harm however, and there will undoubtedly be clubs interested in his signature in the coming days. Liverpool should indeed be one of those clubs, with his fee set to be extremely low and his experience would see him slot straight in to the first-team.
