Liverpool are preparing to let ten players leave the club before the close of the transfer window in an effort to raise £100million, according to the Daily Mail

The newspaper report that there could be as many as ten exits from Anfield before the end of August, with the club able to negotiate with European sides until then.

The Mail claim that among those on the chopping block could be strikers Danny Ings, who is rated at £20million, and Divock Origi, for whom the club want £27million, with goalkeeper Loris Karius and winger Lazar Markovic also vulnerable.

OPINION

It is not surprising to hear that Liverpool are looking to raise a bit of cash following their summer of big spending, and there are certainly several players they could afford to let go. The Reds now have a huge squad and it will be to their benefit to let those deemed surplus to requirements to leave. It would be impossible for Jurgen Klopp to keep everyone happy, and this cull is necessary before the start of the season. Whether Liverpool will be able to raise £100million in these sales is another matter, with the club unlikely to get the money they want for Ings or Origi. The loss of Ings will be the one most keenly felt, but the club easily have enough striking resources to deal with the loss of the former Burnley man. In goal, Karius has reportedly been unsettled by the purchase of Alisson, and it looks like he may leave the club now, leaving Simon Mignolet in an awkward situation.
