Some Liverpool fans have been reacting with pride after Reds manager Jurgen Klopp received an award nomination.

The German manager has been nominated for the FIFA Men’s Coach 2018 award, as announced on the FIFA official Twitter account.

The other managers to be nominated were Massimiliano Allegri, Stanislav Cherchesov, Zlatko Dalic, Didier Deschamps, Pep Guardiola, Roberto Martinez, Diego Simeone, Gareth Southgate, Ernesto Valverde and Zinedine Zidane.

The Reds reached the UEFA Champions League final, eventually losing to Real Madrid, and also achieved a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.

One Liverpool fan said that the former Dortmund boss brought them to the top.

Live for Liverpool have rounded up the best tweets from a section of the Anfield faithful on their manager’s nomination:

OPINION

This section of Liverpool fans seem happy that their manager has received recognition for his club’s achievements last season, which is perfectly reasonable, but he has no chance of winning the award. The Merseyside club had a decent league season, finishing in fourth behind Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City, also reaching the Champions League final, which to their standard recently is a pretty successful season. However, Massimiliano Allegri, Pep Guardiola and Ernesto Valverde all won a league title, amongst other trophies. Didier Deschamps won the World Cup with France and Zinedine Zidane won the Champions League trophy, so they are all more deserving for the award than Klopp.
