Liverpool romped to a 4-1 win over rivals Manchester United in the International Champions Cup pre-season tournament in Michigan on Sunday, and some fans have taken to Twitter to rave about the display of debutant Xherdan Shaqiri.
Sadio Mane opened the scoring from the spot before Andreas Pereira equalised for United just a few minutes later as the two sides went into the break at 1-1.
Daniel Sturridge then put the Reds ahead and a Sheyi Ojo penalty doubled their advantage before Shaqiri took centre stage with a stunning bicycle kick to round off a good win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Fans have now taken to Twitter to react to 26-year-old Shaqiri’s display, with many excited by the signing of the Switzerland international attacker.

So I know it's only against Man U, but Shaqiri's debut says to me he's really hungry, and doesn't see himself simply as a sub. Genuine competition for midfield spots can only be a good thing in the coming season. #lfc https://t.co/fBwO8x7Lej

OPINION
Liverpool fans have seemingly been blown away by Shaqiri’s debut, and it is easy to see why. The Switzerland international was mightily impressive against United, and his first game for the club could not have gone much better. The fact that Liverpool have secured his services for just £13.5million is a huge coup, and one that could help Liverpool transform into real title challengers next season. Having some back-up for Klopp’s favoured front three will be a huge bonus, with the Reds almost too reliant on those players last season. Shaqiri’s pace and delivery from wide areas will help him slot seamlessly into this side, and is set to be an exciting player for fans to watch at Anfield in 2018/19.
