World Cup finalist Domagoj Vida remains keen on a move to Liverpool despite interest from a host of other Premier League teams, according to Turkish outlet Milliyet.

The distinctive centre back was linked with a move to Anfield earlier this summer, but it was thought that the Reds had decided not to continue pursuing the player.

Despite that, Vida is said to have his heart set on a move to Merseyside. Milliyet’s report claims that both Wolves and Leicester hold an interest in the 29-year-old, as well.

Jurgen Klopp isn’t thought to be actively pursuing any more players, with Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alisson and Xherdan Shaqiri all arriving at the club this summer.

OPINION

From what we saw at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, Vida would make an excellent addition for Liverpool. The Croatian is strong and quick, while being positionally sound, and formed an excellent partnership with Reds man Dejan Lovren. His arrival does seem unlikely, however, no matter how much the player wants the move. Klopp appears to be content with the centre back options he currently has at the club, with van Dijk and Lovren expected to be the first choice pairing. They will be backed up by Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan this season. Unless Reds supporters desire an upgrade for Lovren, there isn’t really much need for the club to sign a centre half. Vida is a talented player, but Liverpool simply aren’t in the market for any more additions. Perhaps he’ll get his dream move at some point in the future, but it doesn’t seem like it will happen this summer.
