Stan Collymore predicted Liverpool teenager Trent Alexander-Arnold to be a future captain of the club.

The outspoken pundit was asked on Twitter what his thoughts were on Joe Gomez and Alexander-Arnold were and whether they could potentially be future captains of the club.

Collymore responded, via his personal account, by stating that Alexander-Arnold would be a future Liverpool captain in his opinion as he ticked every box needed to be one.

The 19-year-old right-back has featured in all of the Reds’ six games so far after breaking into the first-team on a regular basis last season.

OPINION

It’s hard to disagree with Collymore’s assessment of Alexander-Arnold’s chances of being captain of the Reds. The teenager who has risen through the ranks of the club’s youth system in order to be a regular fixture of Jurgen Klopp’s side, clearly shows all the signs that he may one day lead his side out. Of course Alexander-Arnold is a long way off being the club’s captain as of yet, as it would be nice if he picked up some more experience before being handed such a huge role. The 19-year-old continually seems to be improving at Anfield and it’s hard to imagine him leaving the club anytime soon for that reason. Alexander-Arnold was phenomenal against Paris-St Germain on Tuesday night as the young defender kept world-class talent such as Neymar at bay in order for his side to achieve a memorable 3-2 win in the Champions League. Hopefully the right-back can keep his high-level of performances up as if that ends up being the case, then he could play a vital role in the Reds getting their hands on some much deserved silverware.
