Some Liverpool fans were torn about whether their chances of winning Saturday’s clash with Tottenham had improved after their opponents confirmed that four players would miss the match through injury.
Spurs provided an injury update via their official Twitter account on Thursday in order to confirm that Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris, Juan Foyth and Moussa Sissoko were unavailable for the game against the Reds.
This news prompted a mixed reaction from a section of Reds supporters as while some claimed it was good news for their side, others revealed that they would rather not face Spurs’ second-choice keeper and that Alli hasn’t exactly looked good in recent months.

I’d be mildly pleased by this, but second-string ‘keepers *always* have blinders against us and Alli has been pretty pants for months. #LFC https://t.co/zlkFZLpRC2

This makes the match harder for us. 2 of the most overrated players injured. Damn.

OPINION
It seems the majority of Reds fans are focusing on the absences of Lloris and Alli as none seem too bothered that Sissoko or Foyth are ruled out for the clash against the side. It seems that based on this section of fans, some are a little concerned that second-choice goalkeepers normally put in fantastic performances against the Reds. While that maybe a coincidence that some fans are focusing too much on, it is logical that a player trying to establish himself as first-choice is going to play out of his skin to stake his claim when afforded a rare opportunity. With Lloris missing then Michel Vorm or Paulo Gazzaniga, depending on who Mauricio Pochettino picks, know that a good performance against the Reds could see them play more football than previously expected this season. One Reds supporter on the subject of Alli shares that they would rather face him than Son Heung-min, who could feature, and that a fair comment to make. Alli didn’t exactly impress against Spain for England during the recent international break and may have struggled to deliver the goods against the Reds as clearly he isn’t at his best.
