Paul Scholes reluctantly admitted that Liverpool were among the teams he currently enjoyed watching.

The former Manchester United midfielder shared that the Reds, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona were the clubs that he currently enjoyed watching, before quickly pointing out he would rather be able to say Manchester United ahead of any of those team.

Scholes launched a blistering attack on Man United and in the process slammed them for their current struggles as he stated that the club’s rivals were now smirking over their misfortune.

“It shouldn’t make any difference but it does. United now feels like Liverpool from years ago, like we’re making all the same mistakes as they did,” Scholes told ESPN.

“And we were watching Liverpool and City from afar and smirking as they changed managers and players every year, never getting anything right. It feels like we have turned into a Liverpool or a Man City.

“I feel like people at Liverpool and Man City are looking at us and laughing like we did at them many years ago.

“Whether Jose has a clear way in the future, I don’t know because the form is that bad. United are all over the place.”

The Manchester United legend following this blistering attack on Man United was then asked which clubs he enjoyed watching, and reluctantly confessed that the Reds were among those he liked watching.

“Real Madrid, Barcelona, City, Liverpool. I rather be saying United than any of those,” added Scholes.

OPINION

Scholes reluctantly confessed that he enjoyed watching Jurgen Klopp’s side before quickly pointing out he wish he could say Man United. However while the legendary midfielder clearly isn’t happy at the situation at Old Trafford, he can’t ignore the progress the Reds have made in recent times. Scholes may heap praise on the Reds’ inadvertently with his comments as he clearly doesn’t enjoy doing that, but it’s praise none the less. The current BT Sport pundit clearly thinks Klopp’s team along with Manchester City are able to be smug about the goings on at Old Trafford due to how well they are doing currently. However it won’t matter to Reds supporters whether Scholes is making the comments through gritted teeth as they will simply be happy that their side has become to good to ignore. As for the pundit’s blistering attacking on Manchester United, which he goes even further with in the rest of his interview with ESPN, it’s easy to see why he so disillusioned with the current situation at at his former as it’s hard to see them turning around, despite them beating Newcastle United.
