OPINION
Liverpool will look to continue their Premier League title challenge as they welcome Cardiff City to Anfield on Saturday, and this is a perfect opportunity for Jurgen Klopp to rotate his side and rest some key players.
The Reds bounced back to winning ways in Europe on Wednesday with a 4-0 thrashing of Red Star Belgrade, with a double from Mohamed Salah and goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane seeing them home.
A 1-0 win over Huddersfield last weekend saw them retain their unbeaten record in the Premier League and kept them level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table.
Cardiff will be coming in with some confidence after their first win of the season – a 4-2 win over Fulham last time out – but Liverpool should have enough to walk past the Bluebirds with a much-changed side.
In goal, Alisson should start as normal.
In defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold must retain his place, with Virgil van Dijk doing the same, but Joe Gomez must be rested for Dejan Lovren, while Andy Robertson should also get some much-needed rest for Alberto Moreno.
In midfield, James Milner must come in for Gini Wijnaldum to play alongside Fabinho, who was brilliant against Red Star on Wednesday, with Xherdan Shaqiri also retaining his spot.
In attack, Sadio Mane should be the only one to keep his place, with Daniel Sturridge replacing Roberto Firmino, while £65,000-a-week star Adam Lallana [Total Sportek] should get a rare start coming in for Mo Salah.
This is a match which gives Klopp the chance to provide some of his key stars with rest ahead of a hectic Christmas period, with this still being a Liverpool side which have enough to rip Cardiff to shreds on Saturday.
