Liverpool are looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Champions League on Wednesday when Red Star Belgrade visit Anfield, and midfielder Fabinho looks set for a rare start.

As reported by Goal, the Brazil international is set for a chance to impress against Red Star amid injuries to Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita.

While manager Jurgen Klopp stopped short of confirming that he would start, his comments did suggest that Fabinho would be lining up from the beginning on Wednesday evening.

This is a huge opportunity for the 25-year-old, who has made just four appearances since his £43.7million move from Monaco in the summer.

Klopp has been keen to give him time to bed himself in and adapt to Premier League football, and there have been no signs that his continuing absence from regular minutes is to do with anything other than that.

Things may now finally be about to change however, and Wednesday could be the start of something special for Liverpool and Fabinho.

The midfielder is a world-class operator on his day, and his combative yet creative style in midfield will give Liverpool a brilliant base to build from against Red Star.

Importantly for Fabinho he now has the chance to leapfrog fellow summer signing Naby Keita in the pecking order, with the Guinean struggling with injury at the moment.

Keita has featured more often and taken more quickly to English football, but a recent dip in form has seen him drop out of the side, and left his position in the pecking order up for grabs.

If Fabinho puts in a breakout display on Wednesday then it would be pretty hard for Keita to find his way back into the side, with James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum looking well-established at the moment.

It is all set up for a huge night for Fabinho, and he must take his chance.
