Many Liverpool fans on social media panned the latest performance of defender Dejan Lovren despite their side defeating Huddersfield Town 1-0 on Saturday.
The 29-year-old centre-back played the whole game against the Terriers but it seems a large section of Reds supporters were left very disappointed by his latest display.
One Reds fan boldly tweeted that Lovren made mistake after mistake and if he could release him right away then he would, while another claimed they hoped Jurgen Klopp stopped pairing him with Virgil van Dijk at the back as the Croatian was a danger to the back line.

This is super harsh by all accounts as while Lovren had a couple of iffy moments, it’s not enough to call for his head. The centre-back’s past errors do seem to be held against him as his recent displays have been very acceptable to say the least. Lovren was always known for making a high profile error but since the second half of last season, he looks way less likely to do that. The 29-year-old even shone on one of the biggest stages of football in the summer as he was an important part of Croatia’s World Cup team as they stormed through the tournament all the way to the final. Yet one fan was so incense that they were crying for the defender to be released after his display on Saturday and that’s simply baffling. While it’s easy to argue that Joe Gomez and Van Dijk may be a better central defensive partnership in the long run, the Reds shouldn’t release Lovren by any means. If a mouthwatering offer came in for him then it would be food for thought, but to ask for him to be released is just crazy talk.
