Liverpool youngster Bobby Duncan has set the club straight on Twitter after they got his goal record wrong, and many fans have taken to Twitter to react.

The 17-year-old striker joined his hometown club in the summer from Manchester City and a double at the weekend has taken his goal tally to 11 for the Under-18s this season.

LFCTV, the club’s official TV channel, posted his first goal on Twitter claiming he had scored 10 for the season, and Duncan’s reply has now seen Reds fans react.

COMMENTARY

These Liverpool fans are obviously excited to see Duncan on such a tear this season since his move from Manchester City. The 17-year-old, who is a cousin of club legend Steven Gerrard, has been in prolific form for the Under-18s, and is surely due a call-up to the upper age groups soon enough. His double at the weekend saw the Under-18s thrash Reading 6-0, and proved that the future is bright for the Reds. Duncan is one of the club’s brightest young prospects, and will be keen to emulate his cousin Gerrard at Anfield. With the way things are going he may well be a first-team prospect, but as pointed out by some of these fans, he needs to keep on working hard to get there. His response to the club’s tweet was admittedly quite funny, and shows a confidence which will stand him in good stead to move up through the age groups and eventually into the first-team environment.
