It is easy to see where the Liverpool fans’ reaction stems from with this worrying report from the London Evening Standard. Sadio Mane is a huge player for the club and, if the claims prove correct, his potential absence from the crunch Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday would be huge for the Reds. The 26-year-old is said to be struggling with illness ahead of the game and will be assessed on Tuesday as Jurgen Klopp holds his final training session at Melwood before the flight to the French capital. Obviously if Mane were to miss out it would be a massive blow to Liverpool’s chances against PSG. The French giants are one of the titans of European football and Klopp will want all of his available talent on the pitch for the game. The Reds do have Daniel Sturridge waiting in the wings, but the Englishman doesn’t have the same rapport with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino as Mane does. The Senegal international’s absence wouldn’t be fatal to Liverpool’s chances, but it would be a serious knock to their ambitions in Paris.
