The Champions League clash between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain next Wednesday will no doubt go down as a very important fixture this season.

Both clubs obviously want to have a favourable draw in the next round, so both sides will be vying for the top spot in group C in this penultimate match.

However, it looks as though Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be rejoicing after hearing that PSG duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have both sustained injuries during the international break, which means that they could potentially miss this pivotal encounter.

According to the club’s website and Twitter, Neymar has sustained a “right adductor strain”, whilst Mbappe has suffered a bruised shoulder  – and both players will undergo treatment over the next two days before they will be evaluated further.

Seeming as the Reds’ trip to the Parc des Princes is next Wednesday, the fact that two of PSG’s most talented players could be sidelined for the game will no doubt be a major boost for Klopp and his team, as they will both essentially be facing a race against time to be fit for the showdown.

The pair have arguably been PSG’s main attacking threat this season, but now they are out, Liverpool’s back line can rest a bit easier.

If Neymar and Mbappe are both ruled out, the Reds must use this to their advantage massively, as making the most of their opponents’ potential weaknesses could prove dividends.

Liverpool will obviously recognise the importance of winning this match after being defeated by Red Star last time out, and the duo’s injuries could be the difference between the two.

Klopp will obviously want to make another bid for the Champions League trophy this season after Liverpool’s heartbreak last term – and making the most of this potential absences will certainly help him.
