OPINION

You know you are doing well as a 17-year-old if you get a call-up to first team training – especially at Liverpool. Longstaff has been rightly rewarded for his impressive performances for the under-18s recently, with his pace one attribute that helps him to stand out amongst the rest. The hot prospect thoroughly deserves to be handed such an opportunity – and seeming as some of his teammates were also invited along, it looks like Jurgen Klopp is giving the youngsters their turn to show what they can do. This is encouraging, as not many players from the youth academy make it onto the pitch with the first team if you discount the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Longstaff is known to be hugely versatile, as he is also able to operate in the central midfield as well on either flank, which is rather impressive when you realise that he is only 17. Watch this space – as Longstaff could be a star of the future for Liverpool.
