Reds legend John Aldridge has taken to Twitter to deliver his verdict on Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Burnley on Wednesday night.

Liverpool had to come from behind at Turf Moor after Jack Cork gave the hosts the lead, but James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri managed to hit back to claim all three points.

Aldridge took to his personal Twitter account to heap praise on Liverpool duo Naby Keita and substitute Firmino by labelling Keita as his man of the match while praising Firmino for being “back at his best.”

He said: “Very good comeback that folks..absolutely delighted…showed guts!! Keita MOM Firmino look[s] back at his best! Ynwa.”

OPINION

It is no surprise that Aldridge has heaped praise on his former team for his win, and why wouldn’t he? Liverpool came to Turf Moor with a job to do, and they achieved that by getting all three points. However, the scoreline seems a lot more flattering than their overall performance, as the Reds were most definitely not at their best on Wednesday. Yes, Jurgen Klopp had a number of injuries to contend with – namely Andrew Robertson and Sadio Mane – which meant that he had to switch up his team a little bit. You could tell these injuries had a bit of an impact on the game, and the manager will no doubt be praying that the duo are back in contention soon. It may not have been the most entertaining of wins but sometimes that is going to be the case when a lot is at stake for Liverpool this season.
