Galatasaray are closing in on a January loan deal for Liverpool striker Divock Origi, according to Aksam.

The Turkish outlet report that negotiations are set to continue regarding a loan fee, with Galatasaray offering to pay a maximum of £1.3million for a six-month deal, while the Reds are demanding £2.2million.

Aksam claim that an agreement is likely to be reached in the coming weeks at which point the deal will be announced, with the Turkish Super Lig side desperately in need of attacking reinforcements.

Origi sent manager Jurgen Klopp wild at the weekend with a 96th-minute winner against Everton in the Merseyside derby, with the Reds boss now facing a fine after a charge of misconduct from the FA [BBC].

OPINION

Origi has been heavily linked with a move to Turkey in recent weeks, with the January window fast approaching. The Belgium international has been on the fringes of the first-team all season, and with his contract coming to an end in 2020, an exit has long been touted as a likely move for the 23-year-old. Galatasaray would certainly look to be a viable destination, with the Super Lig side in the midst of a crisis which would see Origi basically guaranteed regular first-team football in Istanbul. That being said, Origi was the hero for the Reds in the Merseyside derby on Sunday, with the frozen-out striker netting a fortunate injury-time winner to give them a 1-0 victory over Everton. His contribution, while merely an easy tap-in, will no doubt have brought him back into the mind of manager Jurgen Klopp, and may complicate things slightly for Galatasaray if Origi is brought back into the fold at Anfield.
