Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has continually been linked to a reunion with Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic in recent seasons, but nothing has come of those rumours yet.

However, Pulisic is now approaching a critical point in his current deal with the Bundesliga side, with the USA international star having 18 months left on his contract.

Should Pulisic decide to leave Dortmund, then it looks like a move to the Premier League is the most likely next step for the 20-year-old attacker.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have become the first club to make an official move for Pulisic, with the Blues holding talks with Dortmund on Friday regarding a January deal.

The Standard claim that Chelsea’s touted bid is far lower than the £70million being demanded for Pulisic, who is now refusing to discuss an extension with the Bundesliga side.

Interestingly, the report says that Chelsea are not Pulisic’s preferred destination, with the 20-year-old desiring that reunion with Klopp at Anfield first and foremost.

That reported desire now opens the door for Liverpool to both enter and win the race for Pulisic, and they would be absolutely mad not to do so.

Obviously the Reds are well-stocked in attack, with players such as Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri available to Klopp, but Pulisic could be a star at Anfield for the next ten years.

The USA international is a serious talent, and in the right environment he will blossom into one of the Premier League’s most-dangerous attackers in the coming seasons.

Obviously £70million is a lot of money, but with the likelihood still being that Pulisic will remain at Dortmund until the summer, that price tag is set to come down by then.

Either way, Pulisic would be worth that price tag and more for Liverpool in the years to come, and they must now lay the groundwork to hijack Chelsea’s attempts to sign him.

Should they express an interest soon then Pulisic will be more inclined to wait until the summer for that dream Anfield move, opening the door for this beautiful reunion to finally take place.
