Gary Lineker cheekily described Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah as a one season wonder while drooling over one of the goals he scored against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Match of the Day host was impressed with the 26-year-old’s second goal of the game which was a beauty finish after he struck twice to help the Reds beat the Cherries 4-0.

“The one season wonder scores a beauty. Great stuff from @MoSalah,” tweeted Lineker on his official Twitter account.

OPINION

Salah may have not looked overly happy when he emerged for the second half but it was hard to see why. The winger put the Reds’ 1-0 up in the first half and then looked to have the Cherries’ number in the second 45 minutes of the match. Salah was clinical in front of goal on Saturday and was constantly getting himself in good positions. The 26-year-old has often found himself harshly criticised for his outings this season after an amazing 2017/18 campaign.  Salah hasn’t hit the same heights as last season as of yet, but that doesn’t mean he has had a bad season. The attacker has scored 11 goals and registered five assists in the 22 outings he has made across all competitions, and those numbers aren’t exactly shabby to say the least. Lineker’s cheeky reference to the player being a one season wonder, shows that the BBC host is clearly of the thinking that the player has more to give.
