Liverpool make the relatively short trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday, and Jurgen Klopp is expected to make five changes to his starting XI.

The Reds secured a 1-0 win in the Merseyside derby in the most bizarre fashion on Sunday when Jordan Pickford’s mistake allowed Divock Origi the easiest of finishes in the 96th minute.

Opponents Burnley are having an extremely tough season so far and will come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park over the weekend, with the Clarets currently mired in the relegation zone.

In goal, Alisson is expected to start as normal.

In defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are expected to keep their places, while Joe Gomez is expected to be rested for Dejan Lovren, while Andy Robertson is expected to sit out in favour of rarely-seen £40,000-a-week flyer Alberto Moreno due to a minor injury concern [Total Sportek].

In midfield, Fabinho is expected to remain in place, with Gini Wijnaldum dropping out for captain Jordan Henderson, while  summer signing Naby Keita is likely to replace injured attacker Sadio Mane as Klopp reverts to a three-man midfield.

Up front, Xherdan Shaqiri and Mohamed Salah are expected to keep their places, while Roberto Firmino is likely to be rested for Daniel Sturridge.
