Liverpool midfielder Rafael Camacho will not be leaving on loan to join Liga NOS side Sporting Lisbon, according to Football Insider.

The reliable news outlet reports on their website that boss Jurgen Klopp has blocked the 18-year-old moving away from Anfield on a temporary basis, after Klopp told the youngster’s representatives that he wants him within the first-team fold following discussions in the last 24 hours.

Sporting were keen on taking Camacho – who recently played in Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Wolves on Monday – on loan for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign, but since letting Nathaniel Clyne leave for Bournemouth, Klopp has not greenlighted an exit for the winger.

OPINION

Klopp may have a number of injuries to his first team, but the fact he has blocked an exit for Camacho is rather unfair. Seeing as he primarily operates as a winger – he was used at right-back on Monday, a position unfamiliar to him – the likelihood of him being heavily involved in the first team fold anytime soon remains slim. Klopp already has the likes of Sadio Mane, Xherdan Shaqiri and Mo Salah in his attacking ranks – so why does he suddenly need Camacho? That is not denying the talent that the young ace has, but many fans out there are no doubt thinking that keeping him at Liverpool is just going to decrease his first team opportunities. The potential Camacho has does not warrant playing a fringe role within the squad, so it is a shame that Klopp has essentially denied him the chance to get more minutes under his belt. Who knows just how involved he will be this season – if at all.
