Liverpool have received enquiries from Hull City, Blackburn Rovers and Brentford for their midfielder Ben Woodburn, according to Goal.

The reliable football outlet reports on their website that the Reds have ended the 19-year-old’s season-long loan deal at Sheffield United this month, adding they are set to mull over the future of the youngster.

The end of Woodburn’s loan with the Blades has not been confirmed by Liverpool, and the report also states that the club will likely have a host of loan offers from the interested clubs if they decide that is the best option for the player.

He was brought back to Melwood after an injury and the report claims he will not be going back to Yorkshire.

OPINION

Woodburn has really been struggling for game time during his loan spell at Sheffield United – his last appearance came on 3 November in a ten minute substitute cameo – so it is no surprise that Liverpool are set to terminate his loan early. He was unlikely to get any game time at Bramall Lane due to the club signing Kieran Dowell from Everton as his replacement. Yes, it was not his fault that his lack of game time was hampered by his injury, but now somebody has been signed in his place, the best bet is to move on. Liverpool would be wise to send Woodburn out on loan to one of the Championship clubs that are interested, as first team experience is just what he needs in order to boost his confidence, as he no doubt hit a low when he was not playing. Fingers crossed that Liverpool make the right decision.
