It’s always best to recruit from a position of strength, and it appears that that’s what Liverpool plan to do with a potential move for Lazio striker Ciro Immobile.

Italian outlet Il Messaggero reported on Thursday that the Reds will send representatives to watch the 28-year-old when he takes on Napoli on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are already pretty well stocked up front, but you can’t deny that signing Immobile would take the team to a whole new level.

The Italy international has been one of the most prolific frontmen in Europe since moving to the capital, scoring 80 times and registering 24 assist in 112 games with Lazio. Those are pretty bonkers numbers, and anyone would love to have a player of his quality on their team.

At 28 years of age it appears that Immobile has now fully matured as a player and is now the lethal hitman many people expected him to be a few years back.

It seems that he has learned from his failed spells at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla and is now a largely complete attacker. He has improved his all-round game with Simone Inzaghi’s side and is now capable of starting for any team in the world.

Liverpool are one such team who would benefit from his services. Daniel Sturridge is out of contract at the end of the season and no new deal seems to be forthcoming for the Englishman, while Divock Origi’s future at Anfield is equally uncertain.

With Dominic Solanke already having been sold this month, it’s clear that Klopp will soon have need of fresh attackers – Immobile is the man.

His goalscoring record is impeccable and he has improved massively in the last few years. He deserves another shot with a big club, and he would perfectly complement Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

He has the speed to keep up with their lightning quick breaks, while having the goalscoring nous to benefit from their good work. He is very experienced and has added more creativity to his game while in Rome.

This is a move that Klopp needs to make. Sending representatives to watch Immobile shows that he’s interested, and he must pull the trigger come the summer.
