Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that midfielder Naby Keita will be viable to feature in Liverpool match with Watford on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old missed Monday’s training session at Melwood through illness, but his manager gave a positive update on his likelihood of appearing against the Hornets.

Speaking at a press conference, as quoted by the club’s official website, he said: “Naby was ill yesterday, unfortunately, but I’ve heard now, I got a message, that he is back for today.

“We have to see how he is.”

OPINION

Keita’s really come good recently, and the Guinean will presumably go straight back into the starting lineup if he is well enough to feature tomorrow. After a long spell of doubt surrounding his effectiveness in England, the 24-year-old appears to have found some kind of rhythm on Merseyside, much to everybody’s relief. There’s no questioning his quality as a player, but there have been some concerns over his ability to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League. They appear to be on the wane, however, and having him available for a potentially tricky match against the Hornets will be a welcome boost, especially given the absences of both Roberto Firmino and Dejan Lovren. This game has banana skin written all over it, and the more help Klopp can get in avoiding a damaging upset, the better.
