The main thing that Liverpool supporters will be worrying about at this moment in time is the team’s Premier League title hunt.

However, they were given a bolt from the blue earlier this month when reports surfaced linking star man Mohamed Salah with a massive switch to European giants Juventus. Italian outlet Tuttosport claimed that a Salah-Paulo Dybala swap could be on the cards.

While it appears to be very unlikely, the spectre of the Italian champions looms large over the rest of the continent these days. However, Reds fans were given reason to breath a sigh of relief by former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy recently.

He told Sportingbet what he thought of the speculation surrounding the Egyptian: “I don’t see Salah being remotely tempted to leave Liverpool and the Premier League. I’ve seen reports that Juventus are interested, but that’s not going to happen. The Premier League is far more competitive and stimulating than Serie A and Liverpool are more capable of winning the Champions League than Juventus.

“Salah is a player who will always now be linked with Europe’s biggest teams, but he is happy at Liverpool and the fans love him. He’s playing the best football of his career at Liverpool. I don’t think it would ever be a Coutinho style situation, where he always wanted to play for Barcelona and forced through a move.”

Those are very reassuring words from Murphy. He is clearly adamant that Salah won’t be leaving and feels that he wouldn’t even be interested in a Juventus switch.

Whether that’s accurate is unknown. On the face of it, though, why wouldn’t any top player want to join Juventus? They are serial winners and have invested heavily in recent years in an attempt to become Europe’s top team. Plus, you’d get the chance to play alongside one of the greatest footballers of all time in Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, as Murphy says, he is happy at Liverpool and there’s no real reason to leave at the moment. Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t won as many trophies as Juve in recent years, but they are always competing for them.

This was extremely worrying news when it first came out, but Murphy will likely have eased Liverpool supporters’ fears.
