Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would be wise to hand midfielder Adam Lallana a rare start against Watford at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The England international is now fully fit and impressed in flashes against West Ham United earlier this month. He deserves to start ahead of the more passive Jordan Henderson against the Hornets.

Roberto Firmino was substituted off with an ankle injury against Manchester United on Sunday and likely won’t start as a result. Daniel Sturridge should replace him here.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold, now back fit once again, must get the nod over midfielder James Milner at right back. Those three changes would likely be enough to see the Reds steamroll Javi Gracia’s side.

Alisson produced yet another superb display against the Red Devils on Sunday and should therefore keep his place over back up Simon Mignolet.

Alexander-Arnold is an absolute must-start at right back. His offensive contributions have been missed hugely of late and he is a big upgrade on Milner at the position. Andrew Robertson has to continue at left back.

Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk are Klopp’s only fit centre halves at the moment and must start accordingly at Anfield. The return to fitness of Joe Gomez remains much anticipated.

In midfield, a trio of Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Lallana would be enough to do the business here. The Brazil and Dutch internationals deserve to start once again, while the former Southampton man has the guile and creativity to break down a stubborn Watford backline.

Up front, Sturridge must get the nod over Divock Origi, with Firmino unlikely to play. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane should take up their normal roles alongside him.
