Liverpool right back Trent Alexander-Arnold is not expected to be a doubt for the Reds’ upcoming fixtures, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The newspaper claimed on their news and transfer centre [10:33] on Thursday that the 20-year-old is likely to be back fit enough to face Tottenham Hotspur at the end of March.

The England international, on a reported £50,000-per-week at Anfield [Source: Spotrac], was released from Three Lions duty to return to his club side on Wednesday.

Alexander-Arnold picked up a back injury against Burnley on March 10 and has been playing through the pain ever since. The issue hasn’t got any worse and so it appears his return to Merseyside was merely a safety-first measure.

OPINION

Liverpool fans everywhere will be breathing a sigh of relief after this news. This is exactly what they would have wanted to come out after Alexander-Arnold’s worrying removal from the England set-up on Wednesday. There will undoubtedly have been fears that the youngster was set to miss even more game time, having only recently come back from injury, but it appears that this setback is not a new one, meaning that he should be in line for a quick return to the Liverpool line up. If anything, Alexander-Arnold’s return to Merseyside was good news for Reds supporters. There’s now no extra risk that he will aggravate the problem on international duty and therefore should be able to heal up and be fully fit for this season’s run-in. He is a massive player for Liverpool so there were obviously plenty of hand-wringing on Wednesday, but this doesn’t appear to be a serious issue.
