Andy Walker heaped praise on loaned-out Liverpool player Ryan Kent after he featured for Rangers in their clash with Celtic on Sunday.

The Sky Sports pundit highlighted that the 22-year-old winger had previously submitted a wonderful all-round performance for the Gers against their archrivals and was once again showing his teammates the way to go.

Walker also noted that it was no surprise to him that Gerrard would look to keep Kent at Ibrox based on what he just witnessed.

“He keeps his composure, gets it away from that diving left of Scott Bain,” said the pundit while on commentary (Sky Sports Football, Sunday March 31st, 13:24).

“No wonder Steven Gerrard looks to keep players like Ryan Kent, he had a such a wonderful all-round performance at Ibrox in December.

“And here he is showing he’s teammates the way to go.”

OPINION

Kent scored a picturesque goal for the Gers on Sunday and it no surprise he is being praised. Gerrard’s side were reduced to 10-men quite early on in the match, but they showed great character to put up a fierce fight. While the Hoops ended up winning the match 2-1, the Gers did have several positives to take from the game. One of them was clearly the display of Liverpool’s Kent as the 22-year-old never gave up and showed his quality. The winger may not be the quickest but against Celtic, he ran through the defence with minimal effort. While he did put a damper on his display by lashing out at Celtic’s Scott Brown, hopefully Gerrard will have a word with him, to make sure he doesn’t lose his cool like that again. It’s unclear what the future holds for Kent, but you do feel despite his good form this season, he’d struggled to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans.
