Lee Dixon heaped praise on Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson after he featured for England against Montenegro on Monday.
The former Arsenal player shared that he thought the Reds captain had a tendency to go under the radar due to the type of job he does in midfield.
Dixon added that he personally always liked what he saw from Henderson as you knew exactly what you’re gonna get from him.
“He is actually a massive part of the squad Jordan Henderson he really is,” said Dixon while on commentary during England’s 5-1 victory over Montenegro (ITV, Monday, March 25th, 21:05).
I think sometimes he (Henderson) goes under the radar for the job he does in that midfield area,”
“Always like what I see with him, always know what you’re gonna get, real team player.”
OPINION
Henderson is like Marmite amongst football fans whether he is wearing a Liverpool or England shirt. The midfielder is often thought to be too defensive-minded and the type of player who passes the ball side to side. However that simply isn’t the case and he proved once again on Monday night. Henderson came off the bench during the second half and made a very notable impact. England may have been winning ahead of the Liverpool player entering the pitch, but they looked better and more controlled with him dictating the tempo. Henderson then proceeded to silence the critics even further as he racked up an assist by playing a beautiful ball to Raheem Sterling which the Man City attacker happily hammered home. Henderson was winning his 50th cap for his nation on Monday and you feel it’s about time, he gets the respect he deserves. Also while it is great to see Henderson prove his qualities for England, Liverpool fans will surely be hoping his great form continues to their next game as they have a tricky clash with Tottenham.
