Danny Higginbotham has drooled over Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, suggesting that the Senegalese international is in the “form of his life”.

The 26-year-old scored his 17th goal of the Premier League season in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday afternoon, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Writing in a column for The Sun, Sky Sports pundit Higginbotham said: “Mane is near-enough Liverpool’s most important player right now and, with 11 goals in his last 11 games in all competitions, he is in the form of his life.

“Mane uses his intelligence to keep his width, giving him time to get into his stride before the full-back can get out to him.

“While he has always been a key part under boss Jurgen Klopp, the Senegal hitman has really come to the fore in recent months in what could be an historic season for the club.”

OPINION

Few would have predicted Mane to hit the form he has this season, but you won’t find a single Liverpool fan who is complaining about it. The forward has been in remarkable form over the past few weeks, and where as his teammates have hit the buffers a little in front of goal, he has stepped up to the plate and absolutely smashed it out of the park. His finishing seems to have come on leaps and bounds, and where he could have justifiably been called wasteful or temperamental at times last season, he has hit upon a rich vein of form that could be key to the Reds going all the way in their title bid. This has the potential to be a historic year at Anfield, and should Jurgen Klopp’s men manage to go all the way and ened their 29 year league title drought, then Mane will fully deserve his place amongst the plaudits.
