Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, suggesting the 26-year-old is in “red hot” form.

The 58 cap Senegalese international hit his 17th goal of the league campaign in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Fulham this weekend, and his exploits have garnered the attention of Sky pundit Redknapp.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: “I love what he does.

“He is not just content to pass the ball and stand still, he wants to pass it and get into the box with a bit of pace.

“That’s just a man who is red hot right now.”

OPINION

It’s hard to argue with Redknapp on this one. Mane is in the kind of purple patch that will make him the envy of the league, and that could prove to be the difference in the title race. The Senegalese international is playing with a freedom and swagger that we have never really seen from him before. You can see when he steps onto the field that he believes he is going to score goals. That confidence courses through his performances, and is ultimately making him all but unstoppable. The form he he finds himself in is comparable to that of Mo Salah last season, not just in terms of goals scored, but also in terms of the manner in which he is doing it. Mane looks lethal, and at this rate, you wouldn’t bet against him taking home the golden boot at the end of the season. Who knows, he might even have a league title too.
