European powerhouses Lazio and Bayern Munich are both keeping tabs on Liverpool loan star Marko Grujic, according to The Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claims that the 6ft 3in Serbian [Source: Transfermarkt] has drawn admiring glances from the German heavyweights and the Serie A giants after his performances on loan at Hertha Berlin this season.

The 22-year-old has overcome recurring ankle injuries to become a key player for Pal Dardai’s team, while his parent club have been watching every time he plays.

Grujic has played just 14 times for the Reds, but his rapid rise this campaign could see him return to Anfield in the summer as a key player moving forward.

OPINION

This is interesting, isn’t it? There likely won’t have been too many Liverpool supporters who foresaw a big future for Grujic when he left for Germany last summer, but he has flourished spectacularly in the German capital. His performances this season have been excellent as he’s helped Hertha rise towards the European places. It makes sense that Bayern would be tracking someone who is performing so well in the Bundesliga, but Lazio’s interest is something of a surprise. However, would Liverpool really want to part with a player who is just now starting to fulfil his potential? Probably not. Jurgen Klopp loaned Grujic out – rather than sold him – because he still believes in his talent. So why would he now sell him? He has no need to. Bayern and Lazio are not more attractive destinations than Liverpool from a footballing standpoint. Hopefully, then, the Reds keep hold of Grujic and he can make an impact upon his return this summer.
