There are few clubs who can boast as impressive an alumni as Ajax.

The legendary Dutch side have spent decades churning out world beater after world beater, and their current crop of bright young things are currently catching the eye with a series of pulsating attacking performances.

Chief conductor amongst this prodigious orchestra, however, is a man in his mid-twenties who spent his formative years with Heerenveen.

Hakim Ziyech has been in irresistible form this season, bagging 18 goals in all competitions, with the latest coming in a stunning performance against European champions Real Madrid in the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

The Moroccan international is pacy, tricky, technically sublime, and has been pulling up trees in Amsterdam. There’s nothing to suggest he couldn’t do the same at Anfield.

Liverpool have a fantastic record for bringing through talent that is perhaps perceived as slightly beneath that elite classification that their title rivals prefer to deal in.

Players like Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and even Mo Salah, were all well respected prior to their moves to Liverpool, but would never have attracted the likes of Manchester City or the formerly rampant Chelsea.

Ziyech arguably falls into this category. Undeniably a talent, his star still has some way to rise, and Jurgen Klopp would surely love to be the man to help him achieve his potential.

At 25, he is just entering his prime, and with his best years ahead of him and his style of play seemingly tailor made for the Reds’ style of play, this would be a match made in heaven.
