Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson will miss Scotland’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Kazakhstan because he has to undergo dental surgery, according to Sky Sports News.

The 25-year-old featured for the Reds in Sunday afternoon’s 2-1 won over Fulham, but is expected to be out of his country’s opening qualifying match on Thursday.

Robertson, who was expected to captain the side, could miss Scotland’s clash with San Marino on Sunday as well, according to a tweet posted by Sky Sports late last night.

OPINION

This could be a real blow or Liverpool, although the timing of it could prove to work out perfectly for Jurgen Klopp’s side. By the sounds of it, Robertson is touch and go for next Sunday’s match with San Marino, but if he is potentially expected to feature in that game then it doesn’t seem unreasonable to assume that he will definitely be okay to feature in the Reds’ clash with Tottenham the week after. That will be a real bonus for Klopp, who would be the first to tell you that Robertson is one of the most important players in his side at the moment. The Scot proved that point again on Sunday with a brilliant display against Fulham, although it has to be said that the lack of a viable option at left full-back were anything to happen to him is bit of a concern for Liverpool. Alberto Moreno isn’t exactly league winning material, and some decent cover wouldn’t go amiss.
