Harry Redknapp has suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s character helps him to believe that Liverpool can win the Premier League title.

The German won the Bundesliga crown during his time with Borussia Dortmund, and Redknapp has argued that the manner in which he inspired his players then is a good sign of how he can lead the Reds to the title.

Ahead of Dortmund’s Champions League clash with Tottenham (BT Sport 2, 07:34pm, Tuesday March 5), after watching a video of Klopp during his time in the Bundesliga, Redknapp said: “Fantastic. Seeing that video made me more confident about Liverpool winning the league this year, looking at Klopp.

“He really inspires you doesn’t he?

“He’s got a great personality and what he did here [Dortmund], with that young team, is amazing.”

OPINION

Liverpool are a new team under Klopp, and it’s fair to say that the most noticeable difference between the Reds now and before he took the helm is the manner in which they approach their mental attitude. There is a togetherness and a positivity that hasn’t been seen at Anfield for many a year, and honestly, you cannot imagine a manager you would rather play for than the grinning German if you were a player. He seems to genuinely dote on his players, and has instilled a spirit that is nothing short of admirable. That kind of belief permeates a camp, and the Liverpool squad must be buzzing going into training everyday. Yes, they have dropped needless points recently, but that shouldn’t affect them too much, and they will feel that the title is still very much theirs to be won. If they do pull it off, the Red half of Merseyside will have Klopp to thank for the way that he has transformed this club.
