Jadon Sancho has congratulated Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson for winning his 50th cap for England on Monday night.

Henderson, 28, came off the bench in the second-half of the Three Lions’ 5-1 hammering of Montenegro in Podgorica, marking the occasion with a superb assist for ex-Reds star Raheem Sterling.

The former Sunderland midfielder took to his personal Instagram account after the game to deliver his verdict on how England’s international break went, and Borussia Dortmund’s Sancho responded to his post.

“Great week away with England and a great start to the Euro 2020 campaign with two wins! Thanks for all your support,” said Henderson.

“Contrats on the 50th cap bro,” Sancho replied in the messages on Instagram.

OPINION

Henderson has been simply superb in England’s last two outings. He goes under the radar a lot, but the ex-Sunderland star did anything but that in the last two games as the Three Lions stormed to the top of their Euro 2020 qualifying group with two big wins. There were injury doubts about Henderson before the clash against Montenegro, but it was good to see Gareth Southgate send him off the bench in the second-half to earn his 50th cap and prove that he is fit. That means that he should be able to play against Tottenham this weekend in what is a massive game for Liverpool. Henderson has been criticised by sections of the Reds support this term but the club captain continues to impress those who can actually see all the hard work he does in a role that isn’t known for it’s glamour. Sure, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will take the headlines, but they won’t do that if Henderson isn’t doing his job in the deep midfield position.
