Popular pundit Ian Wright has predicted that Liverpool will draw against Tottenham this weekend and boldly claims that it could be the last time that the Reds drop points in their hunt for the Premier League title.

The Anfield outfit are currently leading the rest of the top division with rivals Manchester City, currently two points behind in second, having a game in hand over Jurgen Klopp and his men.

Delivering his verdict for the final stretch of fixtures, Wright has predicted that the two points against Spurs will be the only missed opportunity for the Merseyside giants, leaving them as his champions elect with City predicted to drop four points.

He told Premier League Today, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News: “One point, they’ve done it by one point!

“I’m really pleased with that because I genuinely believe Tottenham will draw against both of them. And I think the Manchester derby at that stage of the season is going to be so intense. I can see maybe a draw for Manchester City there as well at United.

“Even just seeing with the champions mark makes me really excited. You know my predictions are not a million miles away. I hope I’m right, but I can’t see Man City losing too many, I just can’t see them losing too many. This is the pressure that both of them are under right now, with massive games in and around it.”

Opinion

Going undefeated for the rest of the season seems to be a must if Liverpool want to win the league and winning all but one of their games would usually be more than enough to ensure they have their hands on the title come the end of the campaign. However, they are up against one of the best sides the Premier League has seen in recent years and it could be that victory every week from now until the end of the season is still not enough to snatch the title away from their north west counterparts. It is a bold claim that Liverpool will not slip up other than against Spurs – games against Chelsea, Newcastle and Wolves all looking like potential banana skins. The Anfield faithful will be hoping that Wright’s predictions come true, but as the Premier League has shown so often, anything can and will change in the blink of an eye.
