Luis Garcia has taken to social media ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon to make a jibe against the Blues.

The Spaniard scored a controversial “ghost goal” for the Reds against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side in the 2005 Champions League semi-final, and was happy to bring up the subject again ahead of the meeting at Anfield.

Writing on his personal Twitter, he posted a photo of the incident with the caption: “Did somebody say Liverpool vs Chelsea?”

OPINION

Liverpool fans will absolutely love this one from Garcia. The Spaniard has a cult status on Merseyside, in large part for that goal against Chelsea, and it will always cheer the Reds up to see one of their own gloat at the expense of a bitter rival. At the end of the day, the Kop have taken enough stick in the build up to this one following the infamous Steven Gerrard slip back in 2014, so why shouldn’t they fire back a little bit? The only thing is with a comment like this, you risk doubling the ridicule after a game if you lose, but that will be nothing compared to the hurt Liverpool will feel if they fall behind Manchester City in the title race today. This promises to be a feisty clash between two bitter rivals, and rarely have the stakes been higher for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Nerves will be jangling for sure.
